Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens

There are many things about India that seem completely random or, well, foreign. It is difficult to generalize or draw any conclusions – because next time, the same experience will be completely different. We had a weird, "wait, what?" moment at a store the other day.

In the US, you will often see products shrink wrapped together for promotional purposes – buy a bottle of shampoo, and receive a free sample size of hairspray from the same brand, or buy one slapstick comedy along with another one for a discounted price. Well, after we checked out at this store, we were perusing a rack of movies by the door to see if there was anything we may want to watch. I spotted The Sound of Music, and picked it up feeling nostalgic. Of course, I've seen this movie dozens of times, and so we probably weren't going to spend money on it.

However, I noticed it was shrink wrapped with something else…so I flipped it over:

Because of course it makes sense that you would want Haunted Racers (made by Disney!) with your Sound of Music.

We came across this shirt in a different store. Brandon got a kick out of this one – read carefully:

(To be fair, they don't really have either of these sports in India, although we have seen pick-up basketball games, which is kind of surprising.)
And one more, for my dad. Yes, they even have McDonald's here in India (although, no beef…and a vegetarian sandwich is deep fried cheese in place of the fried chicken)

Nothing makes more sense than haunted racers being shrinkwrapped with the sound of music. Come to think of it, Julie Andrews is a quite a lot like a haunted racer.
