Bibi and Babu made another trip out to Kansas before school starts back up for them. They got here towards the end of Brandon's week of nights, so we didn't see much of him the first few days they were here. We spent our mornings away from home so Brandon could sleep a bit. One morning, we went out to the Great Plains Nature Center. We spent some time looking at the animals inside - some stuffed, some live, lots of buttons to push and things to touch and see. We also took a walk on one of the paths - funny to be out in "nature" ....with the sounds of the interstate in the background. We saw lots of birds, turtles, fish and ducks - and a muskrat! We enjoyed our lunch outdoors before heading back so that we could put the kids right to bed for naps and let Brandon sleep peacefully a little while longer.
And of course, we made a quick trip to the zoo Monday morning before they had to head back to Michigan.
Another morning, we went fishing to get out of the house. Perhaps I over-estimated Jonah's ability to sit still in planning this outing. He was not too interested in touching the icky worms. He spent most of the fishing adventure going for a walk with Bibi and playing on a nearby playground. We didn't catch any fish :(
We also got the pool out for a swim. It was Cora's first time in the pool. In the past, she hasn't been a fan of the water in a big pool, but she had a blast splashing around with Jonah.
We loved having Bibi and Babu in town! Unfortunately, Brandon didn't get to see much of them because of work (and trying to catch up on sleep!), but that is probably the way things will go for the next few years. We appreciate their willingness to make the loooooong drive from Michigan. Thanks for loving on our kids.
