Spring Break!

Bibi and Babu made the trip out to Kansas for their Spring Break the first week of April. They left behind snowy Michigan and enjoyed sun and 80's in windy Kansas. We kept a busy schedule while they were here, trying to squeeze in as much fun as possible.

The first morning, we continued our tradition of Sunday brunch - this time at a new (for brunch) place, Taste and See. We have dined at this restaurant, known for it's unique "global cuisine", for lunch/dinner, but had not tried out the Sunday brunch. It was a hit! They had a huge selection, and it was all delicious. We all left stuffed.  We took some pictures outside before brunch, and finally got a picture of all five of us. I can't believe it's taken two and half months to get one picture with all of us in it.  We also got a picture of the kids with Bibi and Babu. Our kids are not pros at posing for the camera :)

Brandon was actually working night float the week they were here, so he had to head into work Sunday night. Bibi and Babu stayed with the kids while Esther and I went to house church.  We spent Monday morning outside! It was windy but very warm. The kids did some painting with a fun little kit from Aunt Lyn. And Brandon and his dad worked on finishing up the garden boxes. One of the perks of night float is that Brandon didn't have to work during the day! Nice to have him around.

All together, we have six boxes now, which Brandon and Jonah planted last weekend. Brandon would like to add another row of three boxes. We had a garden last year, but got it planted a bit late, so didn't produce a ton. Hopefully we'll see a bigger yield this year - that is, if Kansas ever gets any rain!

Bibi and Babu stayed at a hotel for this visit, and Monday night, they took the big kids along with them for a "sleepover" - the kids were SO excited! Here's the group before they took off for the night:

First they headed down the street and spent some time at the park. Then, I'm told, they made their way to the hotel for some pool time, followed by dinner out, and a movie in the room before bed. We heard it was a less than restful night for all :/  They hit the pool again in the morning before making their way back home for lunch and some much needed naps. The kids LOVED every minute of it - and I'm sure Bibi and Babu did, too :)  Esther and I chilled at home by ourselves, since Brandon was working.

We spent more time outside Tuesday - Bibi and Babu had to soak up all the sun they could before heading back to the snowy winterland of Michigan (snow in April!!). They stopped by Wednesday morning for a quick goodbye before they hit the road. They drove all the way back to Michigan in one day this time - crazy!!  But they wisely planned for a few days of recovery before heading back to work the following week, because we wore them out :)
