We celebrated our big one year old with an chocolate avocado "pudding" cupcake after dinner. He was very intrigued when I brought it out...only mildly interested in eating it.
His hair has gotten quite light! And it's crazy most of the time :)
After dinner, we went for a bike ride over to our friends' house. Brandon has been helping dog-sit while they are out of town, and he needed to let the dogs out. With the changing of seasons, everyone has graduated to the next biggest bike - which means Levi got to ride in Esther's pink car. I think he enjoyed himself.
Eating. We seem to have made some strides this month. Levi is slowly starting to expand what he eats, and we have less screaming during meals. He seems to enjoy being spoon fed more than feeding himself. But we're getting there!
Sleep. We are going bonkers over here. This guy has an internal alarm that goes off every day at 5:30am. We have tried putting him to bed earlier or later, ignoring him when he wakes, rocking him back to sleep....it doesn’t matter. He regularly wakes at 5:30. After the time change last weekend, his wake time shifted to 6:30, which seemed much more reasonable. But by Tuesday, he had “reset”.....and is now waking at the new 5:30! Ahh! I guess he’s just an early riser.
Chatter. Levi talks a lot these days - and some of it is even intelligible! Words include: Mama, Dada, more, nah nah (no - usually complete with vigorous head shaking), and Buh! (which he says for both ball and bounce).
Levi has started getting into the kitchen cabinets -- literally!
Playing. He's pretty good at making little games to occupy himself - moving piles of things around, throwing and chasing a ball, sticking magnets to the fridge, etc. He also loves to play with all the food in our play kitchen. Esther can spend an hour "cooking" for him and shoving food in front of him, while he crawls around and puts all the play food in his mouth (much to Esther's delight: "Mommy, he's eating it!"). But if he's tired or hungry, he is not content to play alone.
One of his favorite games is something I like to call "Share My Juice". Here's how you play: He takes a swig from a fake glass of OJ, then offers it up to me; I pretend to drink and pass it back. Repeat a billion times. If I don't take many, many turns, he will chase me down and insistently shove the juice at me until I relent.
Gross Motor. He is pulling to stand but not really cruising. He is a super fast crawler. But his favorite mode of transportation is still............being carried - ha!
Levi loves to dance! He is his own favorite DJ.
Hair. There is nothing particularly remarkable about this video. It is just difficult to capture his unique hairdo in a still photo, but this video showcases it nicely. However his hair dries after a bath, that's how it stays until the next bath - unless you try to brush it down. It won't stay down; it wants to be Up!
