We got our first big snow of the season last weekend, and the timing ended up being perfect. We were able to attend the Christmas service at church on Saturday night and made it home before things got too bad. Then we were all tucked in our warm beds while it silently snowed through the night. We woke up to a beautifully sunny day, and about 5" of snow. And it was just cold enough to keep the snow from melting into a big sloppy mess, so we bundled Jonah up to play in the snow before lunch.
I think our condo hires a new snow removal company every year - so the first snow is always a good test of how thorough of a job they'll do. They arrived pretty early and got to work. After they were finished, Brandon suited up to go finish digging out our car. (Some day we'll have a garage, right?)
After a while, Brandon took a break from shoveling to walk around with Jonah. The trudged through the fresh snow, made snow angels, climbed the big snow piles left by the plow, and played catch with big chunks of snow. Brandon was a little disappointed that the light, powdery snow could not be packed for snowman making or snowball throwing. I'm sure there will be more snow this winter.

While Brandon worked, Jonah toddled around the parking lot, kicking at the snow and climbing over small banks. It's fun to watch kids explore new things. We were able to borrow some bigger snow pants from a friend, so Jonah didn't "go boomie" quite so often from wearing too-small snow pants that prevent him from bending his knees.

Jonah was upset when it was time to come in -- this little boy seems to love the snow :)
