Vacation

Brandon is on a BREAK from medical school. He has condensed all of his time off from clinics into one big chunk, and he's off from now until January 6! (It's sort of a bummer that his next rotation begins 5 days before Baby Girl is expected to make her debut!  ...but there's not that much flexibility in scheduling time off).  We are looking forward to seeing a lot more of Brandon for the next few weeks.  In typical Brandon fashion, however, this "vacation" will not include much down time - not that it was really his choice, just the nature of this season of life. Tomorrow we take off on a 15-day, 2,000 mile, 7-city, road trip tour of the Midwest that will include four residency interviews, one big (8-hour!) exam, and Thanksgiving with the Alleman/Briggs side of the family.

The Official Route
Oh, and did I mention this is all with a toddler & seven-and-a-half months pregnant wife in tow :) Well, actually Jonah gets to skip some of the driving and spend some quality time with Grandma Strutt, and later with Bibi and Babu.  We are excited to learn more about some of the residency programs and see the cities where we may spend the next three or four years! (And spend some quality time together as we travel).  And really, this will save Brandon a lot of time on the road compared to traveling to all these places on separate trips.

And then when we get back, Brandon gets to log another 2,000 miles to finish up his residency tour! Jonah and I will be heading to WDM to spend the week with Grandma and Grandpa, instead of tagging along for that part.  It sort of feels like we are coming up on the crest of the first big hill, ready to begin the roller coaster that will be our next 8 months: 3.5 weeks of traveling/interviews, one more exam in December, Christmas/New Year's, back to clinicals for one final(!) semester, Baby!, residency ranking list due, Match Day!, prepping/selling our condo, finding a new place to live, graduation (woohoo!), packing and moving, and, finally, the beginning of residency!  And hopefully in that order - I'm talking to you, Baby Girl!  Lots  of exciting things on the horizon for our family.

Now, to finish packing! I think we may end up bringing along more stuff than when we went to India for two months.  Hopefully there's still room for us in the car after we load everything in :)
