Randoms

1.  Jonah had a rough-and-tumble weekend. First, when Brandon picked him up from the church nursery on Saturday night, he was informed that Jonah had gotten a bloody nose...but they didn't really give much information about what happened(??).  Then, Jonah was running around before we left and smacked his head pretty hard on the stand holding the offering box.  Ouch!

Then, Sunday morning, he was running around (sense a theme?) and slipped on the bathroom rug.  He fell face-first into the side of the tub, resulting in a split/bloody lip and another bloody nose.  Add to that adjusting to daylights savings time, and it was a pretty rough day for Jonah. In the afternoon, Brandon took him swimming at the campus Rec Center. Afterwards, in the locker room, he slipped and fell, reopening his split lip.  After all this, we switched up the routine and gave Jonah a bath before dinner, and I'm quite convinced he thought he was not getting dinner - bath is usually the last stop before bed. He threw a fit through the entire bathing/dressing process. Needless to say, it was early-to-bed for Jonah.  BUT he slept more than 11 hours last night, which is a pretty great stretch for Jonah. Today is off to a much better start.

2.  Jonah said his first two-word phrase this morning - down please.

3.  The cake Brandon made for my birthday consisted of three 9-inch layers...so technically a cake-and-a-half, and probably could (should?) have served about 20-24.  Between the two of us, we ate half of it in 24 hours and froze the rest  :/

4. Scratch Cupcakery opens their Coralville store TOMORROW!  Best cupcakes in Iowa, for sure.  Maybe I shouldn't have eaten so much cake this weekend...

5.  One of Jonah's newest words is iPod - but he says it more like ha-bod, and, like all electronics, he is quite enamored with mine.  Other favorite words right now include:
 - Alleluia, which he pronounces impeccably...if you ignore all those pesky L's: Ah-ey-OOH-ya
 - Light, which he says perfectly clearly: YUCK!  He loves to turn them off and on...and off and on.
 - Squirrel, which he loves to spot out our window or on walks. It sounds more like cuh-wool...so it usually takes me a second to place what he's saying.
 - Hawkeye. Jonah is a Hawkeye spotting machine (and they are everywhere in IC)! This one is crystal clear and unmistakable.  There are also lots of life-size Herky cut-outs at the grocery store near our house, and Jonah likes to point them out, as well: Huhrk-eh.
