Jonah is five months today!
Some interesting facts: At five months, Jonah...
- Is wearing 6-9 month clothes and size 3 diapers.
- Prefers to be on his tummy. In the past few weeks, he has really mastered rolling from his back to his tummy (always to his left now) - and he will promptly do so whenever he is placed on his back. This is especially true when we put him down to sleep. Bonus: since he started sleeping on his tummy, he now takes a 2.5-3 hour nap every morning. All this extra tummy time has also helped strengthen his arms and legs as he practices push-ups and pushes off with his toes. He is pretty good at spinning in circles, but there is no forward or backward movement yet.
- Is still our smiley guy :)
- Babbles! All the time! Still goes with the standard "Ah!" most of the time, mixed in with a fair amount of gibberish. But he will also mimic: ba, ma, da, and wah.
- Grabby, grabby, grabby. He wants to touch everything. On the floor, he will -- s t r e t c h -- to reach for a toy. If someone is holding him, he will grab their hair, jewelry, shirt or anything they are also holding. We borrowed an exersaucer from a friend, and he loves to spin around and grab and chew all the toys. We have to limit his time in it, though, because it seems to overstimulate him, and he gets really intense really quickly.

- Can hold himself upright when perched next to the ottoman...for quite a long time. Brandon claims he can even stand unsupported for several seconds at a time (I have not witnessed this).
- Can (sort of) sit up unsupported. He's still pretty wobbly but seems to prefer the new vantage point.
The word this month is curious. He wants to touch everything and explore it with his fingers (and his mouth). He finds the tag on any toy or blanket. He loves to be held because he can look around and see what's going on. Strange or sudden noises cause him to make the funniest faces - he'll turn towards to noise and then look at me with his eyebrows raised, like "what in the world was that??" He makes lots of expressive faces, in general. But the camera seems to have a mezmorizing effect on him - he stops whatever he's doing when it comes out - so it's impossible to capture his facial expressions (or babbling!). I'll just have to file those away in my memory. So far my Uncle Craig has been proven correct: With kids, each stage just gets more and more fun!

I love the last picture! Haha... and, of course, that one that features my child!
Trace JUST grew out of his size 3 diapers. (I think he had been in them for over 6 months!)
Happy 5 months, Jonah!
