Labor Day Weekend

Bibi and Babu came out again Labor Day weekend for a quick visit. Brandon ended up having an opportunity to work out of town, so he was gone for most of their visit.

After a very early departure, they arrived in Wichita on Friday morning. Brandon was able to clear his schedule for most of the day on Friday, so he at least got see them for a bit. Rob spent some time on the afternoon helping Brandon pick up some new medical equipment from a practice in town that was closing -- two years in, and Antioch has outgrown their current space! They are moving right next door to an office with twice the space, and they were needing to set up a few more exam rooms.  Brandon drove to Medicine Lodge on Friday evening for his shift.

On Saturday, we actually packed everyone up and drove down to spend the day with Brandon. He got called in the morning, but had it taken care of before we arrived, and didn't get any calls the rest of the day! We spent the morning at the park, grilled hot dogs for lunch, and then went for a swim at the community pool. The weather was perfect, and aside from all the extra driving for our travel-weary guests, it was a great day!

On Sunday, we spent the morning at Tanganyika, the smaller zoo just outside of Wichita. One of the highlights is always the children's zoo area, where the kids can feed rabbits, tortoises and guinea pigs. Esther was cracking me up - as soon as she entered the guinea pig area, a swarm of pigs came rushing at her. She ran away, screaming, "Get away from me!!" Once she realized they only wanted the lettuce, she calmed down a bit.

Jonah is a little more hesitant about the animals. You can actually feed the tortoises from outside the pen if you don't want to get close to the animals...but he prefers to get in the pen, just as long as the tortoises can't actually come near him, haha!

Cora doesn't always fall asleep during nap time, so I told her she didn't have to lay down for a nap, since we had company. She must have been tired, though, because she built this "fort" in the middle of the living room, then crawled "inside" and promptly fell asleep - haha!

Bibi and and Babu got to see Brandon briefly when he got home Sunday night. Then they had to head back to their hotel, and we did not see them again before their 6am flight the next morning. It was a quick trip, but we packed in a lot of fun!!
