We hit the road Memorial Day weekend for Levi's first road trip! We spent the weekend at Grandma and Grandpa's - and Brandon actually got to come with us! We also go to spend lots of time with cousins.
Our kids are quite the little travelers - start 'em young!! Levi cooperated nicely and we had a smooth trip.
On Saturday morning, we went to cousin Peyton's birthday party. Jonah welcomed her to the "6-year-old club" and all the kids spent the morning playing with their cousins. Jaclyn always out does herself with cute themes - the theme this time was "Tutti Fruiti"! In the middle of all the playing, Levi snuck in a nap on the couch....not the last odd napping place of the trip.
Sunday morning, we brought Autumn along with us and drove to Ledges State Park. We intended to do some creek stomping - but the bugs were SO bad, we didn't last long. The girls seemed to be enjoying themselves, but poor Levi couldn't defend himself from the onslaught. We
On Monday, all the cousins, plus Grandma and Grandpa and Aunt Jaclyn went to check out the Science Center of Iowa - I recently rediscovered that we can use our memberships from home at museums all over the country!
Lots of fun different areas in the museum. The kids had fun running around with their cousins.
No room at the inn! Another non-traditional nap for Levi - we ran out of bedrooms at nap time :)
Brandon had to head back to Kansas on Monday, but the rest of us spent a few more days at Grandma and Grandpa's house.
On Wednesday, Grandma came with us, and we drove over to see Jenny and Aaron's new house. On Thursday, Jenny took the four big kids to a splash pad and park - brave woman - and they stayed for over 3 hours!
On Friday, we packed up again and made our way up to McGregor to see Grandma and Grandpa Great, and Grandma and Grandpa Henkes.
This was the first time Jenny got to see Levi, and we realized that she first met Jonah over Memorial Day weekend, six years ago!
It was a fun trip. We loved time with cousins, getting to see grandparents and great grandparents, and a little extra sleep for mom :) It was HOT in Iowa - felt like home.
Meanwhile....
While we were traveling around Iowa, Brandon went to Michigan for his "Man Challenge" weekend. He had rented a car, rather than put all those miles on his car. And when he went to pick up the car, all they had was a Mustang! Oddly, this is the second time in the past few years he's gotten a free upgrade to a Mustang.

After a long, hot trip, the kids didn't waste any time before jumping into Grandma and Grandpa's "pool". We did some hot tub swimming once (or twice!) a day during our stay.

During nap time, Jonah liked to join Grandpa in the gazebo - even in the nearly 100 degree heat! - and mostly he talked so much Grandpa couldn't enjoy his book, haha :)
