Bibi and Babu

Bibi and Babu came for a visit! They had a few travel hiccups - first the airline lost their luggage...then the only vehicle left at the rental place was a HUGE 12 passenger van....then the hotel didn't have the right room available.....and to top it off, the second leg of their return flight was delayed so much, they didn't arrive in Detroit until 3am - and THEN, they got a flat tire on the way home from the airport :(

Whew. Thankfully, the in between part went much smoother. They arrived Wednesday morning, and the kids spent that afternoon, and every afternoon, at the hotel pool. On Thursday, Babu joined us for the last day of swim lessons for the week. We were able to give the Dooleys a ride to swim lessons, as well (thanks to the 12 passenger van!!) because their garage door was stuck and they couldn't get their van out. They also accidentally locked themselves out of their house, so when we dropped them off at home, Babu busted through the door in the garage. I think he enjoyed the chance to be "helpful" :)

On Friday, Babu and Bibi took the kids to The Great Plains Nature Center and also walked around the trails at Chisholm Creek Park right next door. After naps, they took another swim at the hotel! Our kids are water bugs.

On Saturday, we spent the morning at the zoo! We got to the gorilla enclosure just as they were scattering all kinds of food and treats, so we hung around a few minutes until they let the gorillas back in. Most excitement I've seen at the gorilla exhibit in a while! We also caught a zoo keeper with a bucketful of apples for the hippos - the kids got to toss a few chunks into their waiting mouths :)

On Sunday morning, we went to Tanganyika - the other, smaller zoo near Wichita. This zoo is also more interactive - they have certain exhibits where you can feed the animals, plus a camel ride.  It looked like we might get poured on the whole morning, but we lucked out and it just started sprinkling as we were leaving.

Babu's favorite is feeding the lorikeets. Esther was the only one brave enough to join him and feed the birds.

Bibi and Babu left Sunday afternoon (for what would turn out to be quite the ordeal!). Levi was around, too. We've been working on sleep training, so he and I stuck close to home as much as possible, as he gets used to putting himself to sleep on his own, in his crib. He has also been working quite diligently on figuring out which fingers he most likes to stick in his mouth. He has evolved from ALL OF THEM -- to, most often, the middle two on his left hand.
