I've been meaning to write about our great weekend since, well, the weekend....but it's been a busy week! Brandon is on a trauma rotation with the orthopedics team, and he's been working LOOOOONG days. His alarm starts ringing at 3:30am, and he doesn't walk back in the door until after 7:00pm. Needless to say, he's been pretty wiped. The kids and I have been staying busy as well. Jonah participated in a "toddler session" at the medical school - where medical students get to practice doing a well-child exam as part of their orientation for their pediatrics rotation. Jonah also had a dentist appointment this week, and I've been generally flying solo with meals, cleaning, bedtime and baths as Brandon works himself into the ground. Whew. (Thankfully, this part of the rotation is only one week long!)
On Saturday, Bibi and Babu took the kids to the park. (And Mom and Dad got a little kid-free break!) It was wonderfully sunny, but a little windy. Jonah tells me he went down the slide, played in the sand and on the swing. We will miss having such a nice park so close when we move. We'll have to squeeze in a few more visits before we move!
Anyway, back to our weekend. We had some very special visitors: Bibi and Babu made the drive over from Michigan!! They arrived Friday afternoon. After Jonah got to open a birthday present, we made our way over to the mall for Family Friday Fun Night! The last Friday of every month, the mall has all kinds of deals for families. Jonah was excited to show Bibi and Babu all of his favorite things about the Children's Museum. The place was a little crazy because of the free admission, but we arrived pretty early and avoided the really, really massive crowds. Afterwards, Jonah and Babu took a ride on the carousel before heading home for a late dinner and crashing into bed.

Cora made the trip to the park, too!
On Sunday, Babu and Bibi treated us all to yummy brunch at Iowa River Power Restaurant. Thanks, Bibi and Babu!! After brunch, they had to get on the road back to Michigan. The were driving during the MSU game - but maybe it's good they didn't have to watch :( And this week they have been preparing for another big trip. Tomorrow they leave for a week of hiking in the Grand Canyon! Have a great trip, and we can't wait to hear all about your adventures.
Grandkids are the best!
