We've reached double-digits around here! Jonah is ten months today :) And, a special shout-out: Happy Birthday, Bibi!! We hope you do something fun today to celebrate.
Here's what's new with Jonah...
- Crawling machine! No more belly-scootching for this guy. He perfected his crawling and hasn't looked back. And he is FAST. The other morning, he about wiggled off the changing table when we were changing out of jammies, so I set him on the floor. In the time it took to open the dresser and grab the first outfit I saw, his nothing-but-a-diaper-self crawled out the door, into the bathroom, and was standing next to the toilet, ready for mischief. This boy cracks us up. When he sees something he really wants, he puts his head down and really gets after it, giggling up a storm the whole way. His latest game is "catch me if you can." He'll start to crawl away, then look back to see if you're watching before he really takes off. The giggles escalate if you play along and take off after him.
- Music. Jonah has long been a lover of music. But it was always sort of an intense, obsessive, dialed-in kind of way. Some babies dance, bounce and groove when they hear music. Jonah would just get really big eyes and grunt a lot while straining to get at whatever was making the music. Until recently. Now his signature move is the hand shake - both hands in the air, arms bent and stiffly shaking up and down, up and down. If his hands are otherwise occupied (because he's on all fours or holding onto the couch, for example), he will also bounce very stiffly. What can I say - he's probably not destined to be the next Fred Astaire. But I am glad he's finally able to let loose a little.
- Food. Jonah continues to be a good eater. These days he eats breakfast, lunch and dinner, with his meals split about 50/50 baby food and table food. Avocados still dominate as favorite food.
- Monkey See, Monkey Do. Our little monkey is really into imitating. He loves to stick out his tongue, flop his head to the side, lift his hands (a la "So big!"), clap, etc. He will also do some of these things on verbal command. And our never-stop-moving child is becoming more affectionate. He gives kisses and (my new favorite) snuggles/hugs - occasionally even unprompted!
- Teeth. Jonah's teeth have taken their time coming in. The first two came in quick succession...then nothing for a few months. Then he got one more, and last month he had three teeth. Today he has at least six (and possibly one more - but he rarely lets me peek inside his mouth anymore). Yowsa!
