May Day

Last minute, I decided to put together some May Day Baskets with the kids. We went with the traditional popcorn and small candies. It seems this traditon is not as well known around here, but the kids had fun filling the baskets (and sampling the treats), then sneaking up to friends houses and running away. We had one casualty to the Kansas wind and spilled a basket before it was delivered, but overall a success.

Assembly crew:

Esther didn’t quite understand the concept...she took great joy in carrying the basket up to the door, but did not understand that we were leaving the basket for someone else.  Each time we returned to the van (without the basket), she lost it:

Oh well. The other two had fun. Hopefully a tradition we can do again another year.
