Transitions, Part 2

Things were going so well with Esther in the kids room (still in her crib), we decided to go ahead and switch her to a twin bed. On a whim, Brandon also decided to rotate the big kids' bunk beds around to a different wall to open up more space in their room. This meant Esther's bed was right up against the bottom bunk (Cora's bed) - so the first night, she took a loooooong time to settle down and go to sleep. She kept peeking her head up over the rail at Cora and talking to a very exhausted Jonah and Cora who just wanted to go to sleep. But they did eventually all fall asleep.

In the crib, our kids have always just had a fitted sheet, and maybe a blanket and small pillow. So when we switch them to a twin, I forgo the flat sheet and comforter for a while, until they get used to it. Esther, however, managed to fall out of bed the first two nights - despite the fact that she is essentially blocked in on two sides by the wall and a third side by a rail/the bunk bed, with just the end of the bed open.  We put the rest of her bedding on the third night, and that has helped keep her up by her pillow (and in the bed!). It's been pretty smooth sailing since then!

All that worry for nothing! I guess Esther is more adaptable than I realized. Hopefully this means she'll adjust quickly to being a big sister. And after that (or before??) -- potty training and dropping the finger sucking habit :)
