We have to take what we can get here in Kansas.
Somehow, Jonah has had FOUR days of school cancelled due to weather. Some of these have seemed completely unnecessary, almost laughable to a girl from Iowa. And unfortunately, none of them have been true snow days, giving us at least something to do while we're stuck at home - ie, PLAY in the SNOW. On Tuesday, we got sleet. It looked a little like snow. So I bundled the kids up and sent them outdoors. Esther didn't last too long (it was Cold!), but Jonah and Cora had a good time sliding around on the ice and digging through layers of slush and sheets of ice and stayed outside for quite a while. We all warmed up with hot chocolate afterwards!
I read recently that this is Wichita's third driest winter since the early 1900's. These Kansas kids will have to make due with playing in the "sleet" - it doesn't look like we'll be getting any snow this winter.
