Jonah is starting to get more into books. He will sit quietly while I read to him, and he enjoys turning the pages and pointing at different parts of the pictures. We have some board books with "touch-and-feel" parts, and Jonah seems to remember which parts are fuzzy or bumpy or whatever on each page. He likes to touch them with his tiny, tiny pointer finger.
We have a box in our living room where we keep a bunch of books, and one of Jonah's favorite pastimes lately is creeping over to the box (still no crawling action over here), pulling himself onto his knees, pulling the books out of the box, one by one - and throwing them all over the floor.
What a nut! I also recently discovered a wonderful program at the public library called Book Babies. It is aimed at babies, age 6-18 months, and their parents. And it is awesome! Karen, the librarian, leads the group in different songs and rhymes. There's lots of motion and actions, and the babies LOVE it. At the end, Karen brings out a bunch of toys and the babies get to hang out and play. We look forward to book babies each week.
