Brandon asked me to add a little explanation for one of the "stats" in yesterday's post. You see, here in India – we are quite famous. Not really. But we have had the experience several times in Lucknow of people asking us to pose for a picture with them or their kids. We must really stand out.
In Agra, it was no different. Our trip to the Agra Fort was particularly entertaining. We were asked by one family to pose with them for some pictures – and they whipped out a FILM camera. That's dedication – these weren't digital photos, which are basically free to take. They were all in. This particular family posed in several different configurations around us. They even tried to get the two little girls to stand right in front of us, but they were pretty terrified. Can you blame them?? Another funny thing about all these big tourist sites is that you can hire a "professional" photographer to follow you around the site, posing you for pictures in interesting spots, taking your picture and pictures of the monuments – and then after the tour, you decide which ones you like and they print them off for you right there. As we were walking around the fort, one of these "professional" decided we would be a nice addition to one of his posed photos, so he pulled us aside, and surrounded us with his subjects. Strange. Then, as we were leaving, we saw the gentleman who had hired the photographer, and he showed us the pictures he'd had printed. And there we were, posing right alongside him! We should have taken a picture of that! It became such a funny thing, we started keeping track of how many requests we got each day to pose for pictures with complete strangers.
