Visitors

We had some special visitors the first weekend in April. Bibi and Babu came from Michigan - and they brought Uncle Aaron and Aunt Erin along with them! This was the first time Aaron and Erin have been out to Wichita. We were hoping to give them some sunshine and warm weather for their Spring Break....but unfortunately it was pretty chilly and rainy the whole time!

On Saturday, we headed to the Exploration Place for the morning. It was nice to have some extra adults around, as the kids tend to want to run in different directions. I think we made it through nearly every section of the museum! After a quick lunch at home, all the kids crashed for super long naps.

After naps, the big kids loaded up for a sleepover at the hotel with Bibi and Babu, while Aaron and Erin joined us at church. After church, we got Esther to bed and enjoyed catching up with Aaron and Erin over a nice, kid-free dinner at home :)  The kids had a great time at their sleepover, although, I think it was a little short on sleep for everyone ;)

Sunday morning, we braved the almost-rainy weather for a trip to the zoo. It was chilly, so we hit most of the indoor exhibits. We also made our way down the gorilla exhibit for the first time in a long time. There have been two new baby gorillas born in the last year, and we got to see one baby hanging out in a hammock-thing with it's mama - so sweet!

After a yummy BBQ lunch at Dickey's (kids eat free on Sundays!), we headed home for some more big naps. Brandon got called into the hospital Sunday afternoon, but he made it home in time for House Church. Aaron and Erin came along with us, while Bibi and Babu took over kid duty, feeding dinner and getting the kids to bed.

On Monday, Jonah had school in the morning, and it was still pretty rainy, so the girls hung out at home with our company. In the afternoon, the sun had finally made an appearance - yay! - so Aaron and Erin took Jonah to Tanganika, the interactive zoo outside of Wichita, while the girls napped. He had a great time!

On Monday evening, Bibi and Babu graciously volunteered to take over dinner and bedtime duties again, so the rest of us could go out to dinner. I think this is the most uninterrupted time we've had with Aaron and Erin in a very long time! It was great catching up.

Tuesday was the last day of their trip. Jonah had school again in the morning, but the rest of the gang took Cora to the Nature Center while I stayed home with Esther for a nap. She had a great time looking at the animals, making some crafts and the weather even cleared up enough for some trail-walking before they picked up Jonah from school.

Brandon had some free time on Tuesday afternoon, so he took our visitors to Churn and Burn for ice cream while the kids napped. Then everyone was up in time to say good-bye to our guests.

Unfortunately (for our guests), we have had nothing but sunshine since they left! We decided it was probably the worst Kansas weather Bibi and Babu have ever experienced on a visit. What a bummer! But we had a great time, nevertheless. Everyone was a trooper, and we made the best of it. Next time, it's our turn to do the visiting - we're heading to Michigan Memorial Day weekend!
