Jonah is five! (+ 5 year stats)

Jonah turned FIVE yesterday! We sure love this crazy, wild, goofy kid.

Pre-K:  Field trip to the fire station - and Valentine's Day class party

Brandon finally had a few days off - yay! - so, to celebrate Jonah's birthday, we drove up to Kansas City last weekend. It also gave us some much needed family-together time. It was pretty much a dream weekend for Jonah - we swam three times in two days, ate lunch at a dinosaur-themed restaurant, went to a park filled with giant animals you could climb on/inside, and on Saturday afternoon, Brandon and Jonah went to Legoland together while the girls napped. It was so wonderful to have so much uninterrupted time together as a family!!

At five years old, Jonah...
  • Is an avid reader. He loves books! His interests are wide-ranging, and his attention span is seemingly-limitless.
  • Is still full of energy. He bounces constantly and skips from place to place. He is forever knocking into people and things. He goes full-speed at everything, and almost never stops moving.
  • Loves to build: Legos, Duplos, zoobs, magnatiles, sticks....whatever he can find. He makes up increasingly complex stories and adventures. He plays on his own very well.

Jonah still continues to struggle with self-control, as well as his urge to solve conflicts with his hands. We have seen some improvements this year, but he has some growing to do in this area. But he is also kind and thoughtful and affectionate, more and more often. We are so proud of the little boy he is growing into!

Jonah and Cora are still great buddies. They play together well most of the time, and they still love sharing a room. Back in January, everyone got the stomach flu (except Mom!).  Jonah and Cora got the worst of it. But they got to spend the whole week on the couch together and watch A LOT of videos...so I don't think they minded too much :)

Five year stats:

Weight: 40.79lbs (50th percentile)
Height: 44" (61st percentile)

Also, flashback to a much smaller Jonah - two videos that prove to me that, although he is growing up, he is still exactly the same little boy he always has been:

Emotions have always run full throttle with this little guy. The highs are high, the lows are low.
