First Friends Christmas Program

Jonah's school did a little Christmas program last week. It only included the four oldest classes, so Cora's class did not participate. Brandon was working nights last week, so he was able to come along, as well!

They did the program during the last part of the day before pick up....which means they skipped rest time that day :/  There are usually 1-2 days per week where Jonah fails to fall asleep during his nap time....but I could tell as soon as he walked in with his class, this would not have been one of those days. He looked WIPED. We were interested to see how he would react in this new environment - being on stage in front of lots of parents - especially being so tired. Since his class was the youngest participating in the program, they were in the front row, and Jonah was all the way on the end.

The program consisted of about a dozen Christmas songs, some of which had actions. Some of the kids really got into it! For the first few songs, Jonah just stood there. He was literally the only kid not singing - haha! About three songs in, both hands went down the front of his pants, and he continued to stare off into the distance - and NOT sing. After a few more songs, I could see him saying, "My parents aren't here!" while looking around, distraught. His hands finally came out of his pants, and after a little exuberant waving on our part, he spotted us and finally relaxed a little bit. But he still didn't sing.

The second-to-last song was "Go Tell it on the Mountain," a personal favorite of Jonah's. He suddenly came to life, and finally started singing!! He also decided he didn't like being on the end, and shoved the girl next to him over so he could slid towards the middle. Then he rocked out the final song of the show, and applauded along with the audience when the program finished. I guess he was just waiting for a song he liked??

I laughed so hard, I cried. Oh, Jonah. It is such a joy to be your Mom.  <3
