At two and a half, Jonah....
- Is potty trained! (Sort of) He got the hang of peeing in the potty/staying dry after a few days and only a few accidents. Since he only has a bowel movement about 3-4 times per week, that part is taking a little longer to get down. Our trip to CO really set us back in this area.
- Can sound out most three and four letter words and can read many sight words. Often he points out words on signs we pass driving around. He also tries to sound out acronyms phonetically: "Gemeck [GMC] made that truck!"
- Can write his name, as well as all his letters and numbers, fairly legibly. He loves to trace letters in a dry-erase handwriting book he got from Grandma and write on his magna-doodle (best "free bin" garage sale find EVER!)
- Still takes a 2-3 hour nap each afternoon, although it sometimes takes him quite a long time to fall asleep.
- Still a pretty good eater. Not too picky, and still eats a large quantity. He almost always prefers fruit, but also loves to dip anything in fat/grease/drippings.
- Loves music! Loves to sing, listen to music, and be sung to. Insists on knowing the names of songs, loves to follow along in the hymnal, pointing at the words as he sings.
- He is starting to become self-conscious and is timid in trying new things when he's not sure of his success - "No, I cannot. I cannot try."
- He gets frustrated when he cannot do things right on the first attempt. He rarely throws tantrums, but when he does it is usually because of this.

- We are working on him dressing himself. He can do shirts pretty well and pants/shorts with some assistance. Undies and shoes are difficult; he won't even attempt socks. It is also hard to get him to make an effort to remove clothing (but maybe that's a good thing...?)
- Constantly asking questions. Two favorites right now - "What does ____ mean?" and "What does ____ do?" These are often confusing to me, as I think he means to ask some other question, but doesn't know how. What does lunch mean? What do potatoes do?
- When he gets tired, he either becomes silly and loopy or whiny. Neither are very fun, as he is most tired, it seems, at lunch/before nap.
- Loves the zoo, LOVES to swim, loves being around other kids - especially older kids.
- Still loves technology, but he has become much better when it's time to put the phone or tablet away. He usually asks politely if he can use the tablet or my phone, and mostly handles it well if I say no.

- He is not terribly imaginative in his play, unless something is expressly modeled out for him. He also has a hard time playing independently (perhaps that is developmentally appropriate for 2 1/2??). He often needs to be (quite literally) right in the middle of everything. He is most likely to act out when I am giving Cora attention or when Daddy gets home at the end of the day and he (Brandon) and I are interacting.
- Somewhere along the line he has become this little PERSON! He has opinions and ideas, he makes jokes and tells stories. He remembers everything (except where he has left things).
