Brandon is down in Kansas City attending a residency fair. He is going to seminars and talking to reps from residency programs and generally getting excited about the next phase of his training. It's fun to talk to him and hear his excitement. But we miss him! Good thing he comes home tomorrow.
Since Brandon was going to be gone, Jonah and I drove to Des Moines to visit Grandma and Grandpa! Jonah had fun exploring Grandma and Grandpa's house again - favorites include the stairs, the piano, Grandma's iPad, and of course, anything else with buttons :)
Grandpa still had to work, but he came home for lunch. It was such a beautiful day, we enjoyed lunch out in the gazebo. There were a few flies buzzing around, and for some reason this really bothered Jonah. Grandpa taught Jonah how to shoo away the flies, a necessary skill when dining outside. Jonah thought that was pretty cool and kept asking for more flies :) We also got to practice a little signing. We've been working with Jonah on the sign for music, but he mostly just waves his hands around. But we used Grandpa's wind chimes to get Jonah to practice signing music, and he started to get the hang of it :)
After lunch, Grandpa had to go back to work, but Jonah got to help Grandma make some cookies. It was a slower, messier process than usual - but I think Jonah had fun pouring and stirring (and maybe sampling a few raisins along the way).
And to end the day, Jonah got to watch Grandpa mow the lawn! (One of Jonah's favorite past times). He ran back and forth from the front door to the back door watching Grandpa push the mower. Very exciting stuff. Lunch outside, cookies, and lawn mowers - now that's a good day!
Thanks, Grandma and Grandpa, for keeping us busy while Daddy was away!
