We had been noticing some signs of a furry night time visitor in our kitchen (most notably: seeing a mouse scurry away back into its hiding place). Eww!!
So we set a few traps, with limited success at first. (Somehow, the little guy was able to snack on the peanut butter without tripping the trap!) Then, finally, we heard the telltale "snap!" - ironically, it was right in the middle of getting kids ready for bed: every light in the house on, noisy kids running around. This mouse was bold! But that did not work in his favor.
Brandon asked Jonah if he wanted to see the mouse......which he most definitely did! He was excited to see a REAL mouse trap in action; he had played Mousetrap at Grandma and Grandpa's house after Christmas, so I think his expectations were pretty high.
When he came back into the living room, he was visibly upset: "No! You should NOT have done that!" he was screaming at Brandon.
Traumatized by his first brush with death, I thought.
"I wanted to do experiments with the mouse!!"
Or not....
These days, Jonah's answer to the question, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" is:
"ALL the kinds of scientists!!"
